Mishawaka's Cooper Pritchett wins South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week vote, March 4-10

Congratulations to Mishawaka senior Cooper Pritchett for winning the South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week vote for March 4-10, 2024. Pritchett edged out Brandywine senior Jaremiah Palmer for the top vote getter in the six-person field.

WINNER: Mishawaka senior Cooper Pritchett

In a game where rebounding was key, Pritchett led the Cavemen with nine rebounds. He also scored nine points, including a big bucket midway through the fourth quarter to help Mishawaka win, 68-52, over East Chicago Central in a 4A regional championship game Saturday.

RUNNER-UP: Brandywine senior Jaremiah Palmer

Palmer led the Bobcats in scoring in both MHSAA Division 3 regional games this week, scoring 23 in a semifinal win over Union City and 13 in the championship win over Schoolcraft. Palmer eclipsed the 1,000-career point total mark in the process as well.

OTHER NOMINEES

Elkhart Christian senior Aiden Hibbard

Hibbard has a flare for the dramatic, hitting a game-winning shot for the second-straight Saturday, this time to beat Tri-County, 58-57, in a Class 1A regional championship game. Hibbard finished with a game-high 32 points.

Fairfield senior Tyson Frey

Frey played the hero for Fairfield Saturday night, hitting a shot with three seconds remaining to lift the Falcons to a 41-39 win over Bishop Noll in a 3A regional championship game. Frey finished with a team-high 10 points.

Marquette Catholic sophomore Aleks Pecoski

Pecoski's 17 points led the Blazers to a dominant 57-32 win over DeMotte Christian in a 1A regional championship game Saturday.

South Bend Saint Joseph senior Jayce Lee

Lee was the star of the show Saturday, scoring a team-high 17 points — including four monstrous dunks — in a 53-38 win over John Glenn to win a Class 3A regional championship.
