VOTE: Pick one of our 7 nominations for Mohawk Valley Athlete of the Week

Welcome the the Times Telegram and Observer-Dispatch reader poll for a Mohawk Valley area high school athlete for the week of Jan. 7-14, 2024.

A weekly list of athlete of the week nominees will be compiled by our sports department with information provided to the Times Telegram and the Observer-Dispatch by coaches and athletic directors through emails and other contacts.

If a top performer’s name doesn’t appear on the list, encourage their coach or athletic director to email submissions to sports@timestelegram.com or sports@uticaod.com.

Online voting is open to readers and continues until 5 p.m. Wednesday and then a winner will be announced Thursday on the TimesTelegram.com and UticaOD.com websites.

This Week's Nominees:

LANDON ANDRADE, wrestling, Sherburne-Earlville: 285-pound finalist at seven-state, 150-school Eastern States Classic at Sullivan County Community College.

HAYDEN DUMAS, basketball, Waterville: Recorded the first double-double of his senior season (16 points, 12 rebounds) and scored the 1,000th point of his varsity career against Clinton Jan. 7 at Hamilton College.

TEGA IGHO, basketball, Clinton: Senior earned most valuable player honors at Notre Dame's Juggler Classic after scoring 23 points in a first round win over Oriskany and 13 in the championship game against Notre Dame.

CHARLIE LAMBERT, basketball, Cooperstown: Senior followed up scoring his 1,000th point against Morrisville-Eaton with 32 more against Mt. Markham in his next home game, topping 30 for the fourth time in six games. Lambert averaged 31 points during that stretch with a high of 40 against Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young, and raised his season average to 23.7.

CAMEROHN LUDWIG, basketball, West Canada Valley: Scored the 1,000th point of his fourth-year varsity career on the final basket of Thursday's game against Hamilton. Back-to-back 30-point games raised his average to 21.6 this season.

ELLA TRINKAUS, basketball, Utica-Notre Dame: Scored 60 points in two games for the Jugglers and matched her career-high with 33 in Friday's Juggler Classic contest against Bishop Ludden of Syracuse. Currently averaging 25.2 points per game.

TRENT TRUE, wrestling, Holland Patent: Followed up an impressive showing at the Leo J. Sammon Jr. Memorial Tournament in Ilion with another 190-pound tournament title Saturday at Camden's Blue Devil Invitational.
