Vote for The Oklahoman's Landmark Fine Homes HS boys athlete of the week for Jan. 9-15

Voting for The Oklahoman's high school boys athletes of the week poll presented by Landmark Fine Homes is now open for Jan. 9-15 in basketball and wrestling.

Fans can vote until noon Sunday. You don't have to be a subscriber to vote. Votes are limited to one per hour, per device.

Community Christian guard Destin Edwards won the most recent Jan. 2-8 boys basketball poll with 748 votes (66.19%). Del City's Liam Daniels won the wrestling poll.

Basketball

Isaiah Amous, Jr., Norman: Amous had a career night for the Tigers against Lawton Eisenhower, totaling 24 points, seven rebounds and two steals. The junior has averaged 16.2 points and 9.7 rebounds over Norman's last six games.

Kobe Freeman, Jr., Purcell: Freeman flirted with a triple double in Purcell's win over Lexington, scoring 32 points with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals. He's currently averaging 24 points and five rebounds per game for the Dragons on nearly 40% shooting from beyond the arc.

Luke Gray, Sr., Oklahoma Christian: Gray scored a game-high 22 points while grabbing 19 rebounds to help lead the Saints over previously undefeated North Rock Creek in a 34-point victory.

Davon Scott, Jr., Douglass: Scott nailed the game-winning free throws for the Trojans in their nail biting 52-51 win over rival Millwood. He scored 17 points in the matchup to help Douglass win its fifth consecutive game.

Swimming

Tristan Merkl, Fr., Yukon: He had three victories at the Putnam City Invitational on Jan. 9 — the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 57.67 seconds), 200 medley relay (1:45.55) and 400 freestyle relay (3:32.82).

Jack Powell, Jr., Harding Charter Prep: He won the 500 freestyle (5:07.98) at the Putnam City Invitational.

Sam Scorpecci, Jr., Deer Creek: He earned wins in the 50 freestyle (23.45) and 200 freestyle relay (1:36.05) as he helped Deer Creek claim the team title at the Putnam City Invitational.

Mason Scott, Jr., Mustang: A second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (56.82) was Scott’s top individual performance at the Putnam City Invitational.

Wrestling

Cody Abston, Sr., Tuttle: He won the 215-pound crown at the Greg Henning Invitational in Tuttle last week.

Cash Donnell, Sr., Piedmont: In a rematch of last year’s Class 6A 120-pound state championship match, Donnell defeated Edmond North junior and Navy commit Devon Miller 5-0 for the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference title last week. Donnell, an OU signee, is the defending champion at 120 pounds and claimed the title at 113 as a sophomore.

Bryson Hall, Jr., Guthrie: He won the 165-pound title Saturday at the Malcolm Wade Memorial Invitational at Carl Albert.

Dimitri Kizer, So., Del City: He had a great tournament at the Malcolm Wade Memorial Invitational, winning the 132-pound championship and helping Del City place fourth.

Brayden Kochenower, So., Kingfisher: A 4-2 win over Pawnee’s Nathan Goodman in the finals sealed Kochenower’s first-place finish at 138 pounds at the Western Conference Tournament last week in Kingfisher.

Jude Randall, Sr., Edmond North: The OU signee won the 175-pound crown at the COAC Tournament while helping the Huskies claim the team crown.
