Vote for The Oklahoman's Landmark Fine Homes fall high school athletes of the week

Voting for The Oklahoman's high school athlete of the week poll presented by Landmark Fine Homes is now open for Oct. 1-7 in cross country, fastpitch softball and volleyball. Fans can vote until noon Sunday.

Last week's winners were Jones' Joseph Walker (boys cross country), Moore's Kate Holbrook (girls cross country), Southmoore's Kandace Burnett (fastpitch softball) and Mount St. Mary's Ella Hale (volleyball).

Here are this week's nominees.

Boys cross country

Will Blalock, Sr., Heritage Hall: He placed fourth with a time of 16 minutes, 14.62 seconds at Heritage Hall’s meet Thursday.

Ruben Gonzalez, Sr., Santa Fe South Pathways Middle College: He won the All-City meet Thursday, finishing in 16:36.08.

Daryen Jefferson, Sr., Douglass: He was the runner-up at the All-City meet Thursday. Jefferson completed the run in 16:39.06.

Sam Rhoades, Jr., Casady: He finished as the runner-up at Heritage Hall’s meet Thursday, completing the race in 15:56.37.

Koen Wagner, Jr., Carl Albert: He took fourth in 18:16.34 at the Suburban Conference meet at Carl Albert on Friday.

Girls cross country

Rylie Hart, Fr., OKC Knights: She placed seventh at Watonga’s invitational Saturday as she completed the two-mile race in 12:56.

Eva Scheer, Jr., Casady: She took fifth at Heritage Hall's meet Thursday as she completed the two-mile race in 12:34.01.

Taylor Schroder, Fr., Guthrie: She placed fourth at the Suburban Conference meet at Carl Albert on Friday. Schroder finished in 21:11.19.

Arely Sides, Jr., Santa Fe South: She won the All-City meet Thursday after completing the run in 20:44.47.

Lucy Webb, Sr., Oklahoma Christian School: She placed second at Heritage Hall’s meet Thursday. Webb completed the two-mile run in 12:14.78.

Fastpitch softball

Kinsley Hill, Jr., Dale: The junior struck out 24 batters in the Pirates’ three games in the state tournament where she allowed just seven hits total. Hill’s dominance on the mound this season helped lead Dale to its sixth-ever state title.

Kennedy Hight, Sr, Perry: Hight made plenty of timely hits throughout the state tournament including a game-winning RBI against Lone Grove — helping secure the Maroons’ first-ever state championship. Hight is committed to play basketball at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Kadey Lee McKay, Sr., Caddo: McKay’s solo home run in the bottom of the first served as the Bruins’ only score of the game in their 1-0 win over Red Oak, capturing Caddo’s second consecutive state title. The OU commit had a huge week for Caddo with six hits and scoring three runs in three games.

Ava Sliger, Sr., Tupelo: The Wichita State commit struck out 10 batters for the Lady Tigers and allowed just two hits in their 3-2 win over Turner to win the Class B state championship. Saturday’s win marked the first-ever fastpitch state title for Tupelo in school history.

Gabi Lopez, Jr., U.S. Grant: Lopez was recently named female athlete of the month by Oklahoma City Public Schools athletics after having an 18-0 record on the mound in September. She had 117 strikeouts in the month while also helping the Lady Generals win the Turnpike 44 title.

Volleyball

Sydney Dunkleberger, Jr., Edmond North: Dunkleberger tallied 41 assists, two blocks and 18 digs in Edmond North’s 3-1 home victory against Edmond Santa Fe.

Jordan Hardesty, Jr., Northwest Classen: Hardesty registered 26 kills and 22 digs as Northwest Classen defeated Santa Fe South, 3-1. She also had one solo block and an ace.

Chloe Kasterke, Sr., North Rock Creek: Kasterke had 18 kills, 29 assists and 31 digs as North Rock Creek rolled past Tulsa Central and Cache to reach the Class 4A state tournament. She also added five blocks and 14 aces.

Kenzie Moseley, Sr., Southwest Covenant: Moseley recorded 15 kills against Hennessey and 14 against Heritage Hall. Tied with Crossings Christian for the top ranking in Class 3A, Southwest Covenant swept both regional opponents to advance to state.

Jaidyn Reid, Jr., Bethany: Reid provided 14 aces, 18 digs and 12 kills to help third-ranked Bethany earn a spot in the Class 4A state tournament. The Bronchos swept Douglass and Tulsa Holland Hall at regionals.
