Vote: The Oklahoman's high school athletes of the week poll for Aug. 20-26

Voting is now open for The Oklahoman's Athlete of the Week poll for Aug. 20-26 in cross country, fastpitch softball and volleyball. Fans can vote until noon Friday. Here are the nominees:

Boys cross country

Levi Haynes, Jr., Community Christian: He placed fourth at the Mustang Harrier Invitational Under the Light race Saturday. Haynes completed the run in 16 minutes, 43.35 seconds.

Cameron Langdon, Jr., Mustang: He won Mustang’s night race, recording a time of 16:22.99.

Jack Lindley, Sr., Norman North: He won Bridge Creek’s meet Saturday as he finished in 17:00.39.

Girls cross country

Kristen Kirk, Sr., Choctaw: She won the Mustang night race, finishing in 20:29.35.

Rielyn Scheffe, Jr., Washington: She had a strong performance at Mustang’s night race, placing fourth with a time of 20:58.58.

Baylee Tapley, Jr., Bethel: She placed third at the Mustang race with a time of 20:44.68.

Fastpitch softball

Kinsley Hill, Jr., Dale: She only threw five innings last week but was outstanding, striking out 13 of 15 batters.

Makiah Neal, Jr., Moore: She had a .667 batting average with four singles, a double and three home runs as the Lions defeated Southmoore 7-1 and Sand Springs by scores of 7-4 and 16-11.

Payten Schibbelhute, Sr., Piedmont: She pitched 10 innings and didn’t allow an earned run as she got two wins in the circle last week. Those games included a 7-4 victory against Westmoore and a 12-2 win against Guymon.

Volleyball

Megan Branson, Sr., Edmond Santa Fe: Branson had eight aces and 26 digs as the Wolves went 2-0 during the past week. She posted a 2.65 passer rating with no aces against her.

Clare Kierl, Sr., McGuinness: Kierl was named Tournament MVP when McGuinness won the Lincoln Christian Bulldog Showdown last week. The Fighting Irish defeated Oklahoma Christian School in straight sets to take first place.

Gia McGrew, Jr., Mount St. Mary: McGrew recorded a team-high 16 kills as Mount St. Mary swept Bixby on Thursday. The Iowa commit then provided 77 kills and 38 digs as the Rockets reached the finals of the Broken Arrow Invitational.
