Martin Dentistry Athlete of the Week: St. Mary's Brady Errecart

The votes are in and the final Martin Dentistry Athlete of the Week for the 2023-24 school year is Brady Errecart of St. Mary's baseball. In an online poll that closed on Friday, Errecart received over 80% of votes cast for a total of 344 votes.

The junior earned this recognition after playing a vital part in the Rams' historic playoff run that has yet to cease as they battled their way to the CIF State NorCal Baseball Division 1 championship game. In their Sac-Joaquin Section championship game against Rocklin on May 23 he finished the game with two hits, a run and an RBI helping his team win 6-1.

Errecart didn't stop there though. Throughout St. Mary's state playoff games, the Cal commit has racked up three hits, three RBIs and a run over two games. Batting second in the Rams lineup, he is a clutch slugger for them helping them sneak past opponents and maintain a month-long winning streak. He will look to keep his hot bat alive on the biggest stage of the year as the Rams will face Granada on June 1 for the state title.

With this being the last Martin Dentistry Athlete of the Week here are the past winners representing 12 different sports and 17 San Joaquin County high schools.

Luke Crivello, Ripon Christian, baseball: Crivello did everything he could in the Knights back-and-forth Sac-Joaquin Section Division 6 championship game vs. Leroy Greene Academy on May 21. The senior pitcher racked up seven batters and on the other side of the ball, two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Despite his efforts, Ripon Christian would fall in the last inning of the game losing to the Lions 12-11.

Brady Errecart, St. Mary’s, baseball: By the third inning of the Rams’ SJS Division 1 championship game vs. Rocklin their bats were on fire. Errecart was one of their key sluggers finishing the game with two hits, a run and an RBI helping his team capture the blue banner with a 6-1 victory over the Thunder. The junior will look to be a consistent hot bat as St. Mary’s goes on to the NorCal Championships.

Shayne Harris, Edison, track and field: Harris is out to prove she is one of the fastest sprinters in the state as she qualified for the 104th CIF State Track and Field Championship meet in the 100 and 200-meter events. Taylor Sansaver, Tracy, softball: Against Vacaville on May 21, Sansaver had Tracy’s hottest bat. The Bulldogs hosted the fellow Bulldogs as they battled for a spot in the SJS Division 2 finals and the freshman helped ensure her team’s 6-5 victory. Clara Schoolland, Ripon, track and field: As just a sophomore, Schoolland was one of two Ripon athletes to qualify for the CIF State Track and Field Championship meet qualifying in the high jump event. On day one of the two-day meet, she finished in third place in the prelims with a score of 5’5" setting a personal record. She will look to jump for gold in the finals on May 25.
