VOTE: Northeast Florida high school Athlete of the Week poll, August 22-27, 2022

Voting time is here.

It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's Athlete of the Week for the week of August 22-27, 2022.

The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com.

Voting begins each Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour.

Jillian Candelino, Bolles girls cross country

The two-time All-First Coast runner of the year opened her senior season with an 18:13 to help Bolles to the girls team title at the Cecil Field Summer Classic.

Maria Candelora, Bishop Kenny girls swimming

The senior won two individual freestyle events and two relays in the Crusaders' season-opening meet victory against Episcopal.

Orel Gray, University Christian football

The two-way athlete intercepted a pass on defense and scored three touchdowns in UC's 33-14 victory over Union County.

Terrance Holland, Jackson football

The wide receiver caught 11 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown, leading the Tigers to a 30-10 win at Nease.

Laney Lipovetsky, Beachside volleyball

The junior scored 23 kills and 13 aces to lead the Barracudas to victories over Menendez and Orange Park, the first wins in the new program's history.

Tanner Simonds, Creekside boys cross country

The Knights' junior shattered his personal best with a 15:36 at the Cecil Field Summer Classic, leading Creekside to the team championship.

Colton Swartz, Fleming Island boys golf

The senior shot a 34 to help the Golden Eagles to a program-record 142 team score and a victory in a three-way match against Beachside and Nease.
