Jessaiah Reynoso voted North Jersey Girls Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 15-21

After four days of voting, Passaic junior guard Jessaiah Reynoso was selected as the North Jersey Girls Basketball Player of the Week.

Reynoso surpassed 1,000 career points last week, getting there in Thursday’s home game against Ridgewood. That was one of two 30-plus point games she had for the 8-6 Indians, as she averaged 27 points, 5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 steals.

Here were the other nominees:

Cayla Menicola

Ramapo senior forward

Menicola reached 1,000 varsity points for her career last week. She averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists during a 3-0 week, reaching the milestone Saturday against Wayne Hills. Half her points have come with the Raiders after she put up 500 in two seasons at Mahwah.

Kate Walsh

Westwood senior forward

Walsh is the third girl on this list to eclipse the 1,000-point mark in the past week and the fifth to do so in program history. She reached the mark in Saturday’s nonconference victory over Bound Brook, giving her four-game averages of 19.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals.

Cristina Parrella

Saddle River Day senior guard

Parrella reached the millennium at Kennedy’s Holiday Hoopfest in December and is now up to 1,166 career points (655 at Demarest, 511 with the Rebels), having helped SRD rebound from a loss to prep school Blair with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists in a victory at Life Center (Florence).
