Hailey Errichiello voted Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week

After four days of voting, Roxbury junior pitcher Hailey Errichiello was selected as the Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week.

Errichiello allowed one hit and struck out 19 over eight innings, throwing a perfect game in Roxbury's 3-0 defeat of DePaul on April 20. She also batted .500 with a home run, two stolen bases, four runs scored and four RBI as the Gaels went 2-1.

Here are this week's other nominees:

Tessa Bowers

Villa Walsh freshman midfielder

Bowers had 12 goals and four assists, 13 draw controls, two forced turnovers and eight round balls as Villa Walsh defeated Kittatinny and Morristown Beard.

Rory Curran

Mountain Lakes junior catcher

Curran, the Lakers' leadoff hitter, went 9-for-13 (.692) with a walk, three doubles, a triple, a home run, five runs scored, and three RBI as the team beat Boonton and lost to Dover, Kittatinny and Wallkill Valley.

Gigi French

Hackettstown senior defender

French had three ground balls in a 17-7 loss to Parsippany Hills, and forced six turnovers in an 11-5 victory against High Point.

Rylee Munier

Sparta senior outfielder

Munier was 3-for-8, including one of the three hits Sparta worked out against Pope John in a 2-0 victory on April 18 and two home runs in a 9-3 win at North Warren on Saturday.

Aaliyah Murphy

Morristown junior sprinter/hurdler

Murphy had the quickest time in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.96) as the Colonials finished third, and was part of the fourth-place 4x200 and anchored the winning 4x400. Morristown placed second as a team at Morris Hills Relays.

Thomas Schottland

Sparta senior first singles

Schottland went undefeated against Mount Olive, Morristown and Montville without losing a game, as Sparta finished 2-1 overall.

John Vanaria

Pequannock senior catcher

Vanaria went 8-for-15 (.533) with two triples and seven RBI as Pequannock went 4-0. He also caught three runners attempting to steal.

Jack Veith

Wallkill Valley junior first baseman

Veith was 10-for-13 with a double, a triple, two walks and a run scored as Wallkill Valley went 0-4.
