Meet the Louisville-area high school boys athlete of the week from DeSales football

This week's poll came down to the wire!

DeSales senior quarterback, Peyton Molter, has been crowned The Courier Journal's Athlete of the Week after his incredible performance on the football field against Lafayette. Molter had 289 passing yards and three touchdowns in the Colts' dominant 45-6 victory over Lafayette.

Molter earned 21 more votes than Trinity senior Clint Sansbury.

Giaonni Hunter, Shelby County, football

Shelby County junior running back Giaonni Hunter carried 33 times for 200 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-24 victory over Paul Dunbar.

Mykel Malone, Fern Creek, football

Fern Creek’s Mykel Malone carried 20 times for 210 yards and four touchdowns in the Tigers' 48-27 win against Jeffersonville (Indiana).

Trinity senior Clint Sansbury carried 17 times for 183 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-14 victory over Carmel (Indiana).

Carl Space, Frederick Douglass, golf

Frederick Douglass senior Carl Space had a great outing last weekend at the Eagle Trace Invitational II. Space shot 70 (-2) and finished second overall in the tournament, lifting his team to a third-place finish.
