Results: Honda Cars of Aiken Augusta-area High School Athlete of the Week reader poll
It's time to vote for this week's Honda Cars of Aiken Augusta-area High School Athlete of the Week.
Thomson's Tre Lazenby took the top spot with 46.06 percent of the vote. Greenbrier's Keith McGregor finished second with 42.25.
The athletes featured in this poll represent the best on-field performers from the past week of high school sports competitions around the Augusta area. Jenkins recorded double-doubles over Worth County (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Brantley County (16 points, 13 rebounds) in the second and third rounds of the GHSA 2A state basketball playoffs, respectively.
Nate Ames, Greenbrier boys’ lacrosse
Ames recorded one goal, five ground balls and three takeaways in a 10-0 win over Grovetown last week.
Jack Polhill, Evans boys’ lacrosse
Polhill recorded two goals, 12 ground balls and three takeaways in a 5-4, double overtime win over Lakeside last week.
Hayden Atkins, Evans girls’ lacrosse
Atkins scored five times in a 17-5 win over Grovetown last week.
Tre Lazenby, Thomson baseball
Lazenby went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored in a 10-9 loss to Grovetown last week.
Hunter Barrow, Westside baseball
Barrow allowed one earned run over seven innings, striking out nine in a 5-2 win over Georgia School for Innovation & the Classics last week. He also went 1-for-3 at the plate.
Luca Perriello, Augusta Christian baseball
Perriello homered in a 13-3 win over Richmond Academy on Saturday.
Charlie Grinalds, Westminster Schools of Augusta baseball
Grinalds didn’t allow an earned run over six innings and struck out 10 in a 7-6 win over Aquinas Thursday. He also went 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI.
Trenton Dunn, Hephzibah baseball
Dunn went 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored in a 19-4 win over Butler last week.
Sawyer Green, Lakeside baseball
Green tossed six scoreless innings, striking out 14 and walking just two in a 3-2 win over Westside last week.
Keith McGregor, Greenbrier boys’ soccer
McGregor scored the game’s lone goal in a 1-0 win over Coffee last week.
Chance Smith, Harlem soccer
Smith scored once and recorded a pair of assists in a 5-3 win over Aquinas last week.
Roenne Saddington, Westminster Schools of Augusta girls’ soccer
Saddington racked up four goals and two assists in a 7-0 win over Augusta Christian last week.
