RESULTS: Gastonia, Shelby-area Week 6 high school football players of the week poll
Here are the Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star Players of the Week for Week 6 of the 2023 high school football season.
Each week, standout athletes from Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties will be recognized for their work on the gridiron. Readers can vote as often as they like until noon Friday.
Coaches can submit a list of standout performers from their previous week’s game. If you see a noteworthy performance, please encourage your coach to email submissions to jhughes@gastongazette.com.

Cleveland County Player of the Week
Ny’Tavious Huskey, Crest
The Crest senior quarterback received 48.1% of the Week 6 vote, outpacing Kings Mountain’s Robert Kendrick and Shelby’s Izay Bridges.
In the Chargers’ 56-0 win over Stuart Cramer, Huskey completed 15-of-16 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns.
Gaston and Lincoln Player of the Week
Javarion Brown, Hunter Huss
Brown ran away with the Week 6 vote, receiving 76% of 17,213 votes.
In Huss’ 31-24 overtime win over South Point, the junior quarterback completed 15-of-19 passes for 230 yards and four touchdowns. Brown was also a threat with his legs, rushing for 111 yards on 13 attempts.
