The results are in.

Bolles sophomore Michael Zhang is the Florida Times-Union's latest First Florida Credit Union Athlete of the Week for the 2023-24 high school sports season, covering the week of Feb. 5-10 in the Jacksonville area.

Zhang won his matches at No. 1 singles and doubles, leading Bolles boys tennis in opening-week victories against Bartram Trail and Creekside.

He placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Clare Coyle (Bishop Kenny girls basketball), Ella-Jane Eddy (Episcopal girls tennis), Kyle Jackson (St. Joseph boys soccer), Layah Mixon (Westside girls wrestling), David Sanchez Barrera (Ponte Vedra boys basketball) and Sydney Schmidt (St. Johns Country Day girls soccer).

It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's next First Florida Credit Union Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-17, 2024.

The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com.

This week's voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.

Here are the nominees from Feb. 12-17:

Sebastian Bonachea, Oakleaf boys wrestling

The sophomore won the District 3-2A championship in the 126-pound division, defeating all of his opponents by fall in 71 seconds or fewer, leading the Knights to first place in the team standings.

Brooke Bunton, Clay girls soccer

The sophomore forward scored twice in the Region 1-5A first round against Orange Park and then twice more in the second round against Beachside, including the overtime winner, advancing the Blue Devils to their first regional final since 2001.

Natalia Choquegonza, Ponte Vedra girls wrestling

The junior won all of her matches by fall to earn the Region 1 championship for the 115-pound division, helping the Sharks to fourth place in the team standings.

Caroline Cooper, Creekside girls tennis

The sophomore won her matches at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead the Knights to 4-3 victories against Gainesville Buchholz and Beachside.

Ashley Cotter, Tocoi Creek girls lacrosse

The sophomore recorded 10 goals, seven assists, 11 ground balls, three caused turnovers and 24 draw controls in the Toros' wins against Matanzas and Beachside.

Jaylen Dopson, Jackson boys basketball

The senior came off the bench to score 22 points, including back-to-back clinching 3-pointers, in the Tigers' first-round Region 1-4A victory over Bolles.

Jack Fox, St. Joseph boys lacrosse

The junior recorded six goals, six assists and 24 ground balls in the Flashes' games against Stanton, Riverside and Winter Garden Foundation Academy.

Terrannya Medlock, Ribault girls basketball

The junior forward scored a team-leading 11 points and recorded numerous key rebounds in the Trojans' 65-60 win over Paxon in Region 1-4A.

Max Pisani, Yulee boys tennis

The sophomore won at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to help the Hornets to a 4-3 victory against rival West Nassau.

Jordyn Rodriguez, Suwannee girls weightlifting

The junior won the 129-pound Class 1A state championships in both the traditional and Olympic categories, helping the Bulldogs to their fourth consecutive FHSAA title.

Emir Trto, Mandarin boys soccer

The sophomore center forward scored the tie-breaking goal in the final 10 minutes to power the Mustangs past Orlando Boone in the Region 1-7A quarterfinals.
