Vote: Des Moines Register Iowa Ortho Athletes of the Week for Jan. 8-14

This past week of Iowa high school sports was severely limited due to two major winter storms postponing and cancelling athletic activities for most of the week.

Several of those events will be made up over the next month as teams begin their final push toward the postseason.

Even with a limited number of athletic events taking place last week, there were still some outstanding team and individual performances in high school girls and boys basketball and wrestling along with boys swimming.

Here are the Iowa Ortho female and male Athlete of the Week candidates for the week of Jan. 8-14. Register readers vote to determine the winners, who will be announced at the end of the week.
