Vikings take traits-based cornerback in latest mock draft

Cornerbacks have been the pick ad nauseam for the Minnesota Vikings in mock drafts and it’s incredibly hard to argue the merits of that. While you want to have really good players at the position, it’s more important to not have a weakness at the position.

CBS Sports’ Kyle Stackpole compiled a mock draft from the “With The First Pick” podcast with four experts rotating. Ryan Wilson has the Vikings and he has them chasing the high-upside player in his latest mock draft by having them select Georgia cornerback Kelee Ringo.

“Wilson drafts Kelee Ringo to replace Patrick Peterson. “He’s big, he’s strong — we’ll see how fast he is — he does a lot of things well that you want these cornerbacks to do, but he has also struggled at times in coverage. And that’s what we have to figure out. But I think with the Vikings, he fills a need there, and the upside is certainly such that it gets your attention late in Round 1.”

The last sentence where he “fills a need” and the “upside is certainly such that gets your attention” is a great dart to throw at the end of the first round. The only real question is can you expect anything from him in year one?
