Vikings 2024 NFL draft scouting report: Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell

Welcome to SKOL Search!

This series will be your guide to the 2024 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.

The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at quarterback, running back, defensive line and edge rusher. We will also focus on wide receiver since it’s a loaded class and an increased chance to get a Stefon Diggs-type steal in the later rounds.

The Vikings are slated to have 9 picks going into the NFL draft and they need to make the most out of them.

Shows a good click and close ability and drives downhill with aggression when his guy gets targeted

Has excellent ball skills. Tends to play the receiver a little more than the ball but has the ability to find it.

Stays patient in phase. Receivers will try to get him to bite and he stays patient, waiting for the route to develop and stays in the hip pocket

Weaknesses

While Mitchell is successful at attacking the ball, his tendency to play the receiver over playing the ball shows out too often. It cost him a few interception opportunities.

Loses balance on the field a little too often. When he drives downhill, Mitchell has a tendency to lose his footing. In the same vein, Mitchell could sharpen and smooth up his footwork.

In the running game, struggles to deconstruct and work through blocks. Needs to work on building up strength.

Mitchell has a ton of potential but needs some refining with his technique and how he tracks the football. When he finds the football, Mitchell does a great job and makes plays with consistency. For him to take the next step, he will need some work but the potential is evident.
