Springer will be difference-maker rest of season

Colin Henderson explores Toronto Blue Jays OF George Springer's recent hot streak and outlines how he should be a difference-maker for fantasy managers.

Video Transcript

COLIN HENDERSON: Blue Jays slugger George Springer looks like he's locked in. Since joining Toronto in the off season, Springer has missed most of the first half due to injury, but he has started to show off why the Blue Jays broke the bank to sign him. Over his past 14 games, Springer is hitting 385 with six home runs and 11 RBIs, scoring 16 times, while walking seven.

This has improved this season line to [? 266/365/586, ?] with 11 homers, 22 RBIs and 26 runs scored with two stolen bases entering Monday. While high stolen base totals are probably a thing of the past for the 31-year-old, Springer should be primed to mash in every other category over the remaining two months of the year. Batting either at the top of the lineup or in the heart of it, Springer should be provided tons of lineup protection and plenty of run scoring and run driving in opportunities.

Will his production over the final two months make up for all his missed time, especially from those who drafted him high before his oblique injury in spring training? We'll have to see. But those who held on to the outfielder should expect a difference maker as managers make their playoff push.
