Victor Wembanyama throws out wild ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium

Hopefully the basketball thing works out for Victor Wembanyama.

Ahead of the 2023 NBA draft, where the French star is widely expected to be selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the first overall pick, Wembanyama visited Yankee Stadium on Tuesday before the New York Yankees' matchup against the Seattle Mariners.

Donning a pinstriped jersey with “New York” written on the front and No. 5 on the back, Wembanyama visited and met with Yankees players, going into the team's dugout and taking part in batting practice. Before the game started, he went out to throw the first pitch, only for it to be just a bit outside, going wide of the batter's box in a throw that could be a candidate in the hall of fame of worst ceremonial first pitches.

It may not be the result Wembanyama envisioned, considering he told YES Network Yankees reporter Meredith Marakovits beforehand he was confident in throwing out the pitch. He also said he likes baseball and has watched a couple of game before.

While it wasn't the ideal first pitch, maybe his basketball skills will overshadow it. After all, it might be hard for him to throw a baseball, since it looks tiny in his hands.
