Vicksburg tennis upends Sturgis

The Sturgis tennis team dropped a 5-3 road decision at Vicksburg on Wednesday.

The Trojans won a pair of matches in singles play, but only earned one victory in doubles action.

At first singles, Rylee Carver won her match over Katley McClish 6-0, 6-1. In fourth singles play, Gracie Perry won her match over Maya Grossman with scores of 6-2 and 7-6.

Sturgis’ lone win in doubles play came at the No. 1 spot. There, Johanna Rooyakkers and Maddie Golden won over Avery Sands and Corinne Wilson, 6-4 and 7-5.

Emily Schuller fell in second singles action 6-2 and 6-2 to Scarlett Hosner, Tess Scheske was upended in third singles play by Sadie Grossman 6-1, 6-3.

Vicksburg won at second through fourth doubles. In second doubles play, the Sturgis team of Katherine Steele and Ava Stewart fell to Clara Centofanti and Sydney Glerum by scores of 6-2 and 7-6. Third doubles saw Sturgis’ team of Bella Currier and Rosa Soto drop their match to Olivia Penney and Emma Vallier in three sets – 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4. Winning at fourth doubles was the team of Isabelle Hahn and Hannha Moyer over Sturgis’ group of Lauren Whitehead and Chloe Clark.

Paw Paw beats TR 

Three Rivers fell to Paw Paw in prep tennis action on Wednesday, 5-3.

The Wildcats had victory at second, third and fourth singles action.

In second singles play, Emily Workamn won her match. Bella Mangold won at third singles, Laynie Zabonick won at fourth singles.

Bronson 5, Lansing Christian 3 

The Bronson tennis team picked up a 5-3 victory over Lansing Christian on Wednesday.

The Vikings earned wins at second singles and all four doubles flights.
