Veterans Memorial boys, Flour Bluff girls remain atop this week's basketball power rankings

GIRLS

1. Flour Bluff

The Hornets defeated Victoria East to capture the District 29-5A championship and enter the UIL playoffs as the No. 1 seed.

2. Veterans Memorial

The Eagles secured the No. 2 seed out of District 29-5A after defeating Victoria West on Tuesday.

3. Bishop

The state-ranked Badgers finished undefeated (12-0) in District 31-4A and will begin the playoffs as the No. 1 seed.

4. West Oso

The Bears wrapped up an undefeated (12-0) District 30-4A championship after Tuesday's win against Port Lavaca Calhoun.

5. Gregory-Portland

The Wildcats defeated Carroll in a zone playoff on Tuesday to secure a playoff spot for the second consecutive season.

6. Beeville

The Trojans had a bye on Tuesday, but will begin the playoffs as the No. 2 seed out of District 30-4A.

7. IWA

The Angels remained ranked in the TAPPS state rankings ahead of the area round of the playoffs scheduled for Feb. 20.

8. Port Aransas

The Marlins wrapped up an undefeated (12-0) District 31-2A championship after Tuesday's win against Woodsboro.

9. Skidmore-Tynan

The Lady Cats finished second in District 31-2A after winning 14 of their final 16 games of the regular season.

10. Aransas Pass

The Panthers bounced back with a win against Mathis to move into a tie for first place in the District 29-3A standings.

BOYS

1. Veterans Memorial

The Eagles secured first place in the South Zone of District 29-5A and will play North Zone champion Gregory-Portland on Tuesday for the district championship.

2. Bishop

The state-ranked Badgers earned another win on Tuesday to wrap up the District 31-4A championship undefeated.

3. Gregory-Portland

The Wildcats secured the top seed in the District 29-5A North Zone and will play Veterans Memorial on Tuesday for the district title.

4. Flour Bluff

The Hornets wrapped up the regular season with a win against Carroll to remain in second place in the South Zone standings of District 29-5A.

5. Miller

The Bucs concluded the regular season with two consecutive wins and will be the No. 3 seed out of the North Zone of District 29-5A.

6. Sinton

The Pirates wrapped up an undefeated District 30-4A championship to secure the district title for the second consecutive season. Sinton has won nine consecutive games.

7. London

The Pirates earned an important win against Santa Gertrudis Academy to keep pace with San Diego in the District 30-3A standings.

8. Tuloso-Midway

The playoff-bound Warriors secured second place in District 31-4A with two games left in the regular season.

9. Aransas Pass

The Panthers have won five consecutive games to remain in first place in District 29-3A. Aransas Pass also clinched a playoff spot for the 24th time in the last 25 seasons.

10. Port Aransas

The Marlins secured their 13th consecutive District 31-2A title after earning a key win against Woodsboro on Tuesday.
