As the Texas women’s soccer team was getting ready for its NCAA run, head coach Angela Kelly kept preparing for the future by signing eight players to national letters of intent.

The class, which is ranked among the top 10 in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer, features 5-foot-2 forward Amalia Villarreal (Lansing, Mich.), 5-7 forward Rosa Maalouf (Ottawa, Ontario), 5-8 midfielder Lola Foley (Frisco), 5-4 midfielder Molly MacMillan ( Mission Viejo, Calif.), 5-2 forward Chloe Shimkin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.), 5-9 goalkeeper Kendell Williams (Lincolnshire, Ill.), 5-4 defender Vivian Geesbreght (Fort Worth) and 5-3 defender Cambry Patrick (Allen).

“I think what you see throughout our 2024 signing class is the ability and talent of our incoming class to be very dynamic on the pitch while also bringing an incredible amount of versatility, which will enhance our ability to play,” Kelly said. “From the defensive back line forward, this class brings a ton of defensive flair, offensive tenacity and a quality amount of international experience.”

Texas (15-4-2), which won the Big 12 Tournament title last week, was set to take on Southland Conference postseason champion Lamar (15-2-3) Friday at 6 p.m. at Myers Stadium in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Division I Women’s Championship.
