Comment: The junior won the Division 2 boys 400-meter dash in 48.97 seconds to become Westlake’s first section champion in the event during the CIF-Southern Section division finals Saturday at Moorpark High. Orekoya teamed with Brandon Orlow, KC Barber and Marcus Nortey to win the 4x400 relay in 3:20.40 and secure the Warriors’ second-place team finish and the first sectional plaque in program history. Orekoya also placed ninth in the 200 in 22.98.

School: Foothill Tech

Year: Senior

Comment: The senior became the first Foothill Tech athlete to win a CIF-Southern Section girls track title by clearing 5 feet, 2 inches, to finish first in the Division 4 girls high jump on Saturday at Moorpark High. Shadden won the high jump title at the Tri-Valley League finals and qualified for the CIF-SS finals by tying for fifth in the event at the prelims. She is headed to Southern Utah University on a soccer scholarship.
