Vegas loses 2025 CFP national championship to Atlanta

The College Football Playoff is seemingly headed to Atlanta for the 2025 national championship with negotiations between city officials and the playoffs under way. The site was originally set for Las Vegas, however, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will be going on that week and it is widely regarded as one of the most influential tech events in the world and could not be moved.

The news of the move was first reported by Brett McMurphy of The Action Network.

The CES can attract in excess of 200,000 people to the Las Vegas area, while filling up just about every hotel in the city. Both sides asked the other to reschedule their respective events by a week, neither budged.

While losing the national championship is a big blow to Vegas, they are likely to be the host site of the 2027 game.
