Vanderbilt football lands transfer punter Jesse Mirco from Ohio State

Vanderbilt football landed a transfer commit from Ohio State punter Jesse Mirco, he announced Wednesday on social media.

Mirco should serve as the replacement to Matt Hayball, a Ray Guy Award finalist in 2023 who is out of eligibility.

Like Hayball, Mirco hails from Australia and was part of the ProKick Australia program.

In three seasons, Mirco appeared in 39 games and averaged 43.9 yards per punt with a career long of 77. In total, 55 of his 130 career punts were pinned inside the 20. He also served as the primary holder on field goal attempts and rushed for 22 yards on a fake punt in 2022.

Mirco is Vanderbilt's second special teams transfer commit of the offseason. The Commodores also landed Furman long snapper Julian Ashby after Wesley Schelling declared for the NFL Draft.

Vanderbilt special teams coordinator Justin Lustig has had a good track record with punters in bringing in Hayball from FAU before the 2022 season.
