Vanderbilt football lands Texas defensive back Alvin Williamson Jr. for 2024 class

Vanderbilt football continued on its hot streak of commitments Tuesday, landing 3-star defensive back Alvin Williamson Jr.

The 124th-ranked corner nationwide by the 247Sports Composite, Williamson chose the Commodores over offers from Oregon State, Texas Tech and several Group of 5 schools.

Like many Vanderbilt commits, Williamson also competed in track and field, running sprint events as well as the long jump. He attends Steele High School in Cibolo, Texas.

The Commodores' 2024 class is up to 16 commitments and the 33rd ranking nationwide. Although there is still lots of time before signing day, the 2024 class is on track to far out-rank the 2023 class in the 247Sports Composite.

Williamson is rated 15th of 16 prospects in the class currently. He is the third pure cornerback prospect in the class, after Guylijah Theodule and Jaren Sensabaugh, with safety Tate Hamby and athlete Markeis Barrett also committed. He is also Vanderbilt's second commitment in the class from Texas, joining offensive lineman Harrison Moore.
