Vanderbilt basketball to accept donations for Tennessee tornado relief

Vanderbilt basketball will be accepting donations at its upcoming games to assist in Middle Tennessee tornado relief, the athletic department announced in a release.

At the men's basketball matchup with Western Carolina on Dec. 19 as well as the women's games against Lipscomb University on Dec. 17 and Dayton on Dec. 20, the Commodores will offer donation bins where they will accept new, unwrapped toys and hygiene items. Those bins will be located on the Memorial Gymnasium concourse. Donations will go to the Community Resource Center.

Six tornadoes killed six people in Tennessee on Saturday. Three people were killed in an EF-3 tornado in Clarksville and three more killed in an EF-2 tornado that hit Madison and Hendersonville. Springfield also saw an EF-2 tornado, though no deaths were reported.

Vanderbilt's release encouraged fans to donate to the United Way of Greater Nashville or the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Fans who want to volunteer in person can do so through Hands On Nashville.
