Vanderbilt baseball live score updates vs Florida in first round of 2024 SEC Tournament
HOOVER, Ala. — Vanderbilt baseball will face a familiar opponent in its opening game of the 2024 SEC Tournament.
The No. 8 seed Commodores (35-20) will face No. 9 Florida (28-26) for the fourth time this season. Vanderbilt won two out of three games during a series at Hawkins Field in April.
The Commodores will be the designated home team.
Last season, Vanderbilt and Florida faced off five times. The Commodores lost each of the first four, including all three games of a series in Gainesville and their first SEC tournament matchup before they finally won in the SEC tournament semifinals. They ultimately took home the SEC tournament title.
With both teams at 13-17 in the SEC, the game will be vital to both in building an NCAA tournament résumé. Vanderbilt, at No. 27 in the RPI, risks dropping out of the top 30 with a loss, but conversely, the Gators would be just one game over .500 without a victory.
The first round of the SEC tournament is single elimination, with the winners advancing to the double-elimination portion of the bracket. The winner of this game will face No. 1 Tennessee on Wednesday.
