Vanderbilt baseball lands Samford's Jayden Davis, SoCon Freshman of the Year, from transfer portal

Vanderbilt baseball has added a second transfer commitment of the offseason, landing SoCon Freshman of the Year Jayden Davis from Samford on Sunday.

In 2023, Davis hit .358 with 13 doubles and nine home runs while putting up a school-record 37-game hitting streak. The All-SoCon First Team selection also walked more than he struck out in his freshman season and is not draft-eligible until 2025.

"Thank you Samford University for an amazing year full of memories and friendships," Davis said in a statement on Instagram. "Thank you to all the teammates and coaches that have dedicated time to make me better over the last year but I have decided to take my academic and athletic career to Vanderbilt University! Gods plan!"

Davis is a native of Cookeville and attended Cookeville High School. At Samford, he was primarily a second baseman.

He is the Commodores' second transfer portal addition of the offseason. Previously, they landed a transfer commitment from former Air Force closer Sawyer Hawks.
