Valdosta Wildcats fourth at Tift Invitational

Oct. 3—TIFTON — It was another busy weekend for cross country teams.

Valdosta varsity boys were fourth at the Tift County Invitational Saturday, held at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. At 151 points, the Wildcats placed behind Union Grove, Tift County and Veterans.

Patrick Wallace was the first of Valdosta's varsity runners to finish, running in 17:49 for 12th place. David Boatright was close behind, 15th place at 18:12. Brandon Reyes was 26th individually. Zane Trible had a top 40 time. Carter McGhin was the other Wildcat whose time counted towards their points.

The Lady 'Cats did not send any high school runners to Tifton.

Valdosta did not finish high as a boys team in the middle school competition, but did have a pair of top runners in Marcus Boyd and Isaac Densmore. Boyd posted an outstanding time of 11:27 to finish in second place. Densmore earned seventh at 11:46, another fantastic time.

Laci Cruz and Erin McClellan were Valdosta Middle's top two female runners. Both crossed the finish line in under 17 minutes.

St. John Catholic School had a pair of top-15 middle school runners: Juan Pablo Ledesma-Rodriguez and Christopher Wallace. Toa Wortman was the lone St. John competitor in middle school girls.

Meanwhile, Lowndes participated FSU Invitational in Tallahassee on Friday.

Competing in the select category, Toshiya Bass' 16:43 earned him 31st place individually. Isaac Chambers and Dylan Chambers joined him in the top 80 in a field of 350.

Lydia Chambers and Pari Patel were the quickest among Lowndes Middle female runners. Lowndes Middle's boys sere seventh, paced by River Thurston, Max Shelly and Andrew Chick, all of whom were 33rd place or better.
