UWS volleyball knocked off at Minnesota Morris

Sep. 23—MORRIS, Minn. — A surplus of offensive errors kept Wisconsin-Superior from capitalizing on a second-set victory, leading to a 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18) loss at Minnesota Morris in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball match on Saturday, Sept. 23.

After dropping the opening set, UWS evened the match by winning seven of the last eight points of the second set, including three aces, two from Lizzy Schmidt and one from Maiana Stark.

In the third, UWS posted an equal number of kills and attack errors (10) and never led. The fourth set was only slightly better for UWS, as they hit .094 to the Cougars' .244. UMM put it away with a run of five to 24-17 and a side-out to end the match.

UWS's Kaylin Plautz led all players with 18 kills, while Kielan LaPlante added 11. Colleen Claude was the Yellowjackets' assist leader with 21, while Jenna Anderson (20) led four UWS players with at least 14 assists.

The Yellowjackets will return home for a tough test from No. 6-ranked Northwestern on Friday night.
