USC men’s and women’s hoops teams make history at NCAA Tournament

It is now official: The USC men’s and women’s basketball teams are both in the NCAA Tournament.

Neither team was victorious during the Pac-12 Tournament; both teams lost earlier than expected. Nonetheless, their resumes were impressive enough to get an at-large bid.

With the men and women both making it, this marks the first time that has happened since 1997, and there’s a chance that both teams will win their respective games this week.

Coming into the week, both teams were firmly in their respective tournament fields as projected by bracketology experts, but the men’s loss to Arizona State briefly caused a little anxiety about their situation to float through the air.

Yet here we are, and USC has pulled off the rare feat of both teams getting a spot. It has been 26 long years in the making.

The women’s team faces South Dakota State in an 8-9 game, and the men will face Michigan State, with USC being the 10 seed and MSU being the 7 seed.
