Can USC land LeVar Talley this summer?

The USC Trojans and Lincoln Riley are trying to close in on Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) junior edge rusher/linebacker LeVar Talley.

The three-star recruit had 45 tackles, two forced fumbles and six sacks last season. Talley totaled 27 tackles, 10 TFLs, and 4.5 sacks in his sophomore season as well.

USC is fighting for him this summer. Talley has already received offers from Colorado, Nevada, UNLV, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech along with USC.

The 6-foot-3 linebacker, a California native, is predicted to go to Oregon according to On3, but USC is believed to be in second place. USC defeated Oregon in the recruitment of Dakoda Fields, a development which improved the Trojans’ secondary. Can USC win another uphill recruiting battle against Dan Lanning and the Ducks? If it can, it would reinforce the belief that the Trojans are acquiring a level of stature and success on the trail which can lead them back to the national championship standard established under Pete Carroll two decades ago.
