USA TODAY not a fan of Jags’ uniforms in recent power rankings

It was no secret that the Jacksonville Jaguars’ previous uniforms were a bit of a laughing stock around the NFL. The jerseys themselves were actually fairly sharp (in this writer’s humble opinion), but the two-toned gold and black helmets were a bit of an eyesore, drawing attention away from an otherwise decent ensemble.

The team attempted to rectify that with their uniform change in 2019, opting for a much more simplified look, instead. However, it seems even that wasn’t enough to appease the masses. In this column from USA TODAY’s Nate Davis ranking the uniforms for each NFL team, the Jags’ set comes in at No. 31.

Another team stuck in the late 20th century, you’ll be simply thrilled to know they’re reverting to a predominantly teal look in 2021.

Jacksonville’s uniform set has been compared to practice jerseys, and it’s an understandable analogy to draw. However, as Davis notes here, the team’s shift back to teal as its primary color (as was the case from its founding until the 2013 uniform change made the home jerseys black) will improve the look considerably.

And those teal jerseys will look even better when quarterback Trevor Lawrence is wearing one of them.
