United Airlines launches Taylor Swift-themed flights ahead of Super Bowl

Swifties and the Chiefs Kingdom will be able to fly the friendly skies as they see fit.

In celebration of Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce’s team heading to Super Bowl LVIII, United Airlines announced the addition of direct flights between Kansas City and Las Vegas, the site of the big game.

Following the Chiefs’ 17-10 AFC Championship victory against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the airline is adding an homage to the new power couple to some of the flights.

Among the new flight numbers listed is UA 1989 — the year of the “Shake It Off” singer’s birth and the title of the album she most recently rerecorded — and UA 2287, which combines Swift’s 2012 hit song “22″ and Kelce’s “87” jersey number.

A third flight number, UA 1587, puts together the jersey numbers of Kelce and Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“These special flights will provide direct flights for more than 1,000 Kansas City fans to get to Vegas to cheer on the Chiefs,” United said in a statement.

“United is flying its largest Super Bowl schedule ever this year adding more than 40 special flights total, which will help 14,000 more fans across the country get to the big game.”

American Airlines also added a couple of flights to and from Kansas City International Airport to the main air hub in Vegas.
