United Airlines turned to a familiar face to pump up Browns fans for the next season.

With Super Bowl LIX slated to be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., the air carrier turned to actor Kyle Chandler to grab fans' attention with an ad that aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl which the Kansas City Chiefs won over the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.

“Cleveland, I know you're watching other people's teams play today, but this season you got everyone's attention. The grit, the wins, the defense,” he said in the commercial. “Next season you get the title. Finally, Browns fans, this is about believing, believing so hard that you book your flight to next year's big game before the season even starts. Because believing that hard can change everything.”

Sure, it can. Even in the face of a dynastic NFL team like the Chiefs, who apparently have become everyone’s NFL villain. Browns fans, however, should not feel that special as variations of the commercial played out in other four other league cities, including Denver, Chicago, Houston and Kansas City (in case the Chiefs three-peat).

A more general ad ran in other broadcast markets.

Of course, Chandler understands the reality of sports fandom, eventually mentioning the best laid plans can eventually go awry and in that case, United has no change fees. Ouch!

Given the airline’s ad agency credit, however. Chandler’s presence works with football fans and that’s even more the case in Northeast Ohio.

Chandler may be best known for his role as coach Eric Taylor in the NBC series “Friday Night Lights,” which ran for five seasons and a host of other roles.

However, he first came to prominence in the family drama “Homefront,” which aired for two seasons from 1991-93 on ABC. Set in the fictional town of River Run, Ohio, during post-World War II, which was based on series creator Bernard Lechowick growing up in Mentor, a Cleveland suburb.
