UNI wrestling's dual vs. Utah Valley back on as scheduled, will be held at Iowa State

After initially canceling the dual early in the day on Saturday, Northern Iowa wrestling will now make the trip to Ames to wrestle Utah Valley in the Lied Recreational Center on Iowa State’s campus.

The dual was originally scheduled to be wrestled at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, but the winter weather impeded those plans. Instead, it appears the Panthers will be the one to make the drive, meeting Utah Valley in Ames where the Wolverines wrestled on Friday night.

No fans will be permitted into the competition that is set to begin at 7 p.m. as originally scheduled, and it does not appear that the dual will be streamed or televised as of now.

Junior 141-pounder Cael Happel posted a photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, of him riding in the passenger seat of a car to Ames.

“Roads are good enough for the blue collar,” Happel wrote in a social media post.

Utah Valley suffered a 44-3 loss to Iowa State on Friday, where the dual was moved from 7 p.m. to 5 p.m. to attempt to get ahead of the blowing snow and frigid temperatures. With the dual still happening, UNI will look to advance to 2-0 in conference duals after defeating Wyoming last weekend.
