UNC, NC State, ECU baseball hosting NCAA Tournament regionals

North Carolina and N.C. State are among the 16 college baseball teams set to host an NCAA Tournament regional, the NCAA announced Sunday.

The sixth-ranked Tar Heels (42-13), who are hosting a regional after losing at Indiana State as a No. 2 seed last season, will be the top seed at the Chapel Hill Regional. UNC is a regional host for the 13th time, including the 12th time since 2006.

The 14th-ranked Wolfpack (33-20), which lost as the No. 3 seed at South Carolina last season, is hosting a regional in Raleigh for the first time since 2016.

No. 15 Duke (39-18), the 2024 ACC Tournament champion, was one win shy of a trip to the College World Series last season. Despite their run in Charlotte, the Blue Devils were not among the 16 teams selected to host a regional.

UNC and N.C. State are two of five ACC teams hosting a regional May 31-June 3. The winners of those double-elimination brackets, which feature four teams per regional, will advance to the super regional round from June 7-10. Clemson, Florida State and Virginia are the other league teams hosting a regional.

No. 10 ECU is another in-state team hosting a regional.

Duke, High Point, Wake Forest and UNC Wilmington are the other in-state teams that will be included in the 64-team field, which will be announced Monday (Noon, ESPN2). The College World Series begins June 14 in Omaha.
