North Carolina baseball is a No. 3 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
The Tar Heels (35-22) will open against No. 2 Iowa (42-14) in the Terre Haute (Indiana) Regional on Friday. No. 1 Indiana State (42-15) and No. 4 Wright State (39-21) are on the opposite side of the bracket.
The Terre Haute Regional is paired with the Fayetteville (Arkansas) Regional, which includes Arkansas, Santa Clara, TCU and Arizona. The winners of the two regionals will matchup in the super regional round.
UNC hosted a regional and super regional in 2022 under third-year coach Scott Forbes. The Tar Heels have advanced to the super regional round 10 times.
Sophomore outfielder Vance Honeycutt, the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, is set to return to the lineup after missing the ACC Tournament with a lower-body injury.
Honeycutt was one of four Tar Heels to earn All-ACC honors this season. Mac Horvath and Jackson Van De Brake, a pair of juniors, and freshman Casey Cook also made all-league squads.
Regionals will take place Friday through Monday. Super regionals are set for June 9-11 or June 10-12. The College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, starts June 16.
