UFC Fight Night 184 pre-event facts: Alistair Overeem the most accurate striker in UFC history

The UFC returns to its home base of Las Vegas for the first time this year on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 184, which takes place at the UFC Apex and streams on ESPN+.

A heavyweight headliner tops the card, as devastating and precise strikers Alistair Overeem (47-18 MMA, 12-7 UFC) and Alexander Volkov (32-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) clash in a five-round bout that was previously scheduled to take place in April 2019.

Alistair Overeem vs. Alexander Volkov

Overeem lands 74.8 percent of his significant strike attempts in UFC competition, the highest accuracy rate in company history. Overeem has been on the losing end of the fifth and sixth largest statistical comeback finishes in UFC heavyweight history. He out-landed Antonio Silva by 30 significant strikes before being knocked out at UFC 156, and he out-landed Travis Browne by 27 significant strikes before his demise at UFC Fight Night 26 Overeem's 14 knockout losses in MMA competition are the most of any active member on the UFC roster. Overeem's 12 knockout losses in UFC/WEC/PRIDE/Strikeforce competition are the most in combined organizational history.

Alexander Volkov

Volkov is a former Bellator heavyweight champion. Volkov is 8-2 since his final Bellator bout in June 2015. Volkov's average fight time of 15:09 in UFC heavyweight competition is tied for second longest in divisional history behind Blagoy Ivanov (17:00). Volkov lands 58.5 percent significant strikes in UFC heavyweight competition, the second highest accuracy rate among active fighters in the weight class behind Overeem (74.8 percent).

Cory Sandhagen vs. Frankie Edgar

Frankie Edgar

Edgar is the only fighter in UFC history to suffer three knockdowns in a single round and not lose the fight. The feat occurred in his UFC 125 draw with Gray Maynard.
