Two unbeatens remain in big-school football rankings in Bucks area with playoffs looming

The regular season is over and it's time for the PIAA district postseason to begin. The playoffs will absolutely test the top teams in the Courier Times/Intelligencer area over the next few weeks.

Central Bucks West (10-0) and Souderton (10-0) remain atop our big-school rankings heading to the postseason with 9-1 CB South still at No. 3.

Take a look at all of the rankings:

1. Central Bucks West (10-0)

The Bucks were ranked No. 1 in the preseason and have stayed atop the poll all season.

Central Bucks West dispatched rival CB East 24-7 last Friday to make it a perfect regular season and also claim the top seed in the upcoming PIAA District One Class 6A playoffs.

The Bucks will host 16th-seed Cheltenham (5-5) in Friday's first round.

2. Souderton (10-0)

The Big Red also finished off a perfect regular season by upending Bensalem 49-14 last Friday.

Souderton enters the PIAA District One Class 6A playoffs as the third seed and will host 14th-seeded Pennsbury (5-5) in Friday's first round.

3. Central Bucks South (9-1)

After suffering their first loss last week against unbeaten Central Bucks West, the Titans bounced back with a 42-14 win over Pennridge last Friday.

The Titans are seeded fifth in the PIAA District One Class 6A playoffs and will host 12th-seeded Coatesville (7-3) in Friday's first round.

4. Council Rock South (7-3)

The Golden Hawks finished off a nice regular season by topping rival Council Rock North 55-14 last Friday.

Council Rock South enters the PIAA District One Class 6A playoffs as the 11th seed and will travel to sixth-seeded Downingtown West (8-2) on Saturday (7 p.m.) for a first-round matchup.

5. Quakertown (6-4)

The Panthers head to the PIAA District One Class 6A playoffs on a four-game winning streak after they knocked Upper Dublin 21-17 last Friday.

Quakertown, seeded 10th, travels to No. 7 Perkiomen Valley (8-2) for a first-round game Friday.

Others to watch: North Penn, Pennsbury.
