What to know for 2023

The Owls are looking to bounce back after finishing with one win in 2022. Odem, which won the district championship two seasons ago, will begin the new season with a core of younger players, including multiple new coaches on head coach Armando Huerta's staff. Huerta said even though most of his players are young, they are talented and said he believes they will have what it takes to compete for a playoff spot in a competitive District 16-3A Division II. The Owls will also turn to a new quarterback in Josh Chavira, who can play both sides if needed. Odem will also rely on key returners such as Ashton Rodriguez, Trey Canales and Josh Chavira, who will be the team's quarterback.

Coach Armando Huerta on the 2023 season

"It's a fresh start. We are obviously disappointed with last season, but now we get a fresh start. All of our goals are in front of us again and we have a new set of kids. Every year is a fresh start with new leaders and new pieces to the puzzle. I have new coaches on staff, a new quarterback and a new defense... You look at last year and we were competitive in every game. We had the opportunity to win eight of those 10 games and that's kept us sane. We went back and tried to break some things down and with all that being said we thought, 'What can we fix going forward?' That was our point of emphasis and now we're focusing on special teams, red zone offense and our defense. We feel like we can be in the mix like everyone else."
