Twins' 2013 coaching plans should be set by Frida
Because the Minnesota Twins haven't cracked .500 all season, the team's focus has been on the future for some time. That doesn't mean answers have been forthcoming.
With two games left in the season, the Twins not only don't know who will compose fourth-fifths of next year's rotation, but they also don't know whether their coaching staff will return intact or even whether Terry Ryan will still be the general manager.
At least some of that should be answered by Friday, when Ryan and team owner Jim Pohlad have scheduled an end-of-season news conference to address several issues, including the fate of the coaching staff, whether Ryan will take "interim" off his job title and what the 2013 payroll will be.
Before the Twins' 6-5, 10-inning loss to the Blue Jays in Toronto on Monday, Ryan said he wants to talk with all involved parties before announcing any sort of personnel changes, and that he wants to speak with ownership before publically addressing his own status.
The team is scheduled to arrive back in Minnesota at 1 a.m. Thursday, and meetings are scheduled for later that day.
"What happens if I can't get to everybody by the time we have that thing on Friday?" Ryan asked. "But I'll do my best. I would say, yes, we probably will have answers."
