Tulare County's top winter sports performers for Week 13

The Times-Delta/Advance-Register will recognize Tulare County's top high school sports performers on a weekly basis this school year.

Coaches, please submit your results/top performers after each game, match or meet to sports reporter Vongni Yang at vyang2@gannett.com to have players highlighted.

This story will be updated throughout the week with that information.

Feb. 8

Girls basketball

Emma Vargas, Redwood: Vargas delivered a double-double with 13 points, 10 steals, six rebounds and an assist to lift the Rangers to a 34-10 victory over Mt. Whitney.

Aryel Chavez, Redwood: Chavez had eight points, five rebounds, five steals and an assist.

Boys basketball

Santana Guijarro, El Diamante: Guijarro drained 24 points to help the Miners beat Golden West 49-39.

Ezra Ayers, El Diamante: Ayers had eight points.

Joshua Velasquez, El Diamante: Velasquez added five points.

Joseph Pena, El Diamante: Pena also had five points.

Jagar Brooks, Golden West: Brooks totaled 16 points.

Javon Holmes, Golden West: Holmes had seven points.

Feb. 7

Girls basketball

Isabella Zepeda, Mission Oak: Zepeda exploded for 28 points to pilot the Hawks to a 75-41 win against Hanford. Mission Oak clinched at least a share of the West Yosemite League championship.

Sierra Calantas, Mission Oak: Calantas added 20 points in the Hawks' back-to-back WYL championship season.

Girls soccer

Lauren Starr, Tulare Western: Starr scored two goals to lead the Mustangs to a 3-1 win over Tulare Union. Tulare Western won an outright West Yosemite League championship this season with a 9-0-1 record.

Trinity Bailey, Tulare Western: Bailey also found the back of the net.

Jaclynn Martins, Tulare Western: Martins dished an assist.

Isabella Medina, Tulare Western: Medina fired an assist.

Norah Benevedes, Tulare Western: Benevedes had an assist.

Girls basketball

Aryel Chavez, Redwood: Chavez delivered 14 points, six rebounds, seven steals, two assists, a block and five deflections in a 60-51 win on senior night.

Sydney Calderon, Redwood: Calderon had 12 points, six rebounds, six steals, three assists and four deflections.

Brooklyn Tayo, Redwood: Tayo generated 12 points, four rebounds, an assist and a pair of deflections.

Jazmaine Stewart, Farmersville: Stewart scored 26 points and had six steals in a 47-32 win versus Woodlake.

Estrella Valencia, Farmersville: Valencia added 11 points and seven steals.

Boys basketball

Santana Guijarro, El Diamante: Guijarro netted 20 points as the Miners knocked off Porterville 52-41.

Ezra Ayers, El Diamante: Ayers fired 11 points.

Josh Velasquez, El Diamante: Velasquez had four points.

Matthew Perez, El Diamante: Perez also chipped in four points.

Brayden Bella, Porterville: Bella racked up a team-high 17 points.

Camden Haynes, Porterville: Haynes finished with six points.

Feb. 2

Girls basketball

Ahriel Madden, Redwood: Madden had a point, 10 rebounds, an assist, two blocks, a steal and a deflection in a 54-25 loss to Monache.

Sydney Calderon, Redwood: Calderon finished with five points, six rebounds, an assist, a steal and four deflections.

Jazmaine Stewart, Farmersville: She led the Aztecs with 24 points, eight rebounds and four steals in a 52-29 rout of Orange Cove.

Haylie Tassey, Farmersville: Tassey had 11 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Leila Juarez, Farmersville: Juarez contributed eight points and three steals.

Boys basketball

Cole Gilcrest, Redwood: Gilcrest erupted for 17 points with four blocks to anchor the Rangers to a 76-57 win over Monache. Redwood is the outright East Yosemite League champion.

Isaac Esquivel, Redwood: Esquivel had nine points.

Zander Jensen, Redwood: Jensen dropped 16 points.

Elijah Casas, Redwood: Casas added eight points.

Christian Carlos, Redwood: Carlos chipped in eight points.

Ty Baxter, Monache: Baxter had a team-high 25 points.

Santana Guijarro, El Diamante: Guijarro dropped 18 points as the Miners defeated Mt. Whitney 39-19.

Josh Velasquez, El Diamante: Velasquez had six points.

Matthew Perez, El Diamante: Perez added five points.

Chase Kottage, Mt. Whitney: Kottage scored seven points.

Israel Briggs, Mt. Whitney: Briggs finished with four points.

Feb. 1

Boys basketball

A.J. Johnson, CVC: Johnson scored a team-best 24 points to direct the Cavaliers to a 70-58 win over Exeter.

Caden Lloyd, CVC: Lloyd finished with 16 points.

Justin Stroud, CVC: Stroud added 14 points.

Andrew Taylor, Exeter: Taylor netted 20 points.

Aiden Plyman, Exeter: Plyman also had 20 points.

Malachi Ficher, Tulare Western: Ficher scored 23 as the Mustangs defeated Hanford 60-57.

Xavier Garcia, Tulare Western: Garcia added nine points.

Kaine Garcia, Tulare Western: Garcia also had nine points.

Jaydon Henningham, Tulare Western: Henningham finished with six points.

Jared Pimentel, Hanford: Pimentel led the Bullpups with 18 points.

Anthony Perryman, Hanford: Perryman racked up 15 points.

Kourdey Glass, Hanford: Glass chipped in 10 points.
