TUF: The Smashes Finalist Colin Fletcher Released

The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes finalist Colin Fletcher has been released by the UFC.

Fletcher announced the news Monday via Twitter.

“Is it just me or does cut after 1 official UFC fight seam a little harsh I know I didn't perform my best ! Neva mind,” he tweeted.

Fletcher (8-3) was on a four-fight winning streak heading into “The Smashes,” representing Team U.K. against Team Australia. He advanced to the finals with wins over Ben Hall and Richie Vaculik.

He was defeated in the finals by Norman Parke at UFC on FX 6 by unanimous decision. Despite losing, Fletcher was offered a UFC contract.

Fletcher faced TUF 16 runner-up Mike Ricci at UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz on March 16. He was defeated by unanimous decision in his one and only post-TUF bout.

Fletcher later tweeted his release was not that big of a surprise.

“Wasn't unexpected,” he wrote. “Just thought I wasn't the most boring of the guys who lose n don't get cut.”
