Tuesday's Top Prep Spring Performers: Bateman, Tostado combine for Camarillo no-hitter

Highlights from Tuesday in high school spring sports:

BASEBALL

  • LSU commit Boston Bateman struck out 10 while walking three in five no-hit innings and Victor Tostado tossed two no-hit innings as the two combined for a no-hitter to lead Camarillo to a 4-0 win over Crespi in the Easton Tournament. Tommy Goodin went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Nate Tostado was 2 for 2 with two runs scored for the Scorpions (2-0).

  • Dylan Volantis pitched a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts, Nolan Johnson finished 4 for 4 with two RBIs, Johnny Backus was 2 for 3 with a three-run double, and Nate Johnson had two hits and scored twice to lead Westlake (2-0) to a 7-0 win over Birmingham in an Easton Tournament game.

  • Ricky Garcia struck out five in six scoreless innings, Alec Villacana went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Riley Ortega had a double and an RBI, and Mekaeo lualemana and Byron Cibrian each had two hits and an RBI to lead Pacifica (1-1) to an 8-1 win over Grace Brethren in the Easton Tournament.

  • Jacob Roa allowed two runs and four hits while striking out nine over 6.1 innings, Damien Valdez was 1 for 3 with two RBIs, Mario Franco was 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Hunter Cervantes finished 2 for 4 to lead Rio Mesa to a 5-2 victory over Saugus in the Easton Tournament.

  • Diego Barajas allowed five hits and one run while striking out six in five innings, Raul Centeno allowed one hit in two scoreless innings to earn the save, Hector Piña was 2 for 3 with a double and RBI, and Evan Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI to lead Simi Valley (2-0) to a 2-1 victory over Hart in the Easton Tournament.

  • Michael Leddy went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Greg Lareva was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, AJ Mai was 1 for 2 with two RBIs, and Taylor Busch had a double and an RBI to lead Moorpark to a 6-3 win over San Marcos in the Easton Tournament.

  • Dustin Dunwoody allowed three runs in four innings, Isaiah Tillman pitched two scoreless innings and went 1 for 2 with a walk and two runs scored, Colten Rainer was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI, Noah Vasquez was 1 for 2 with two RBIs, Landon Parada was 1 for 2 with an RBI, Zach Nagy was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Cooper Orme had an RBI, Dylan Jones and Andrew Koby each went 1 for 1, and Nathan O'Brien struck out two in a scoreless inning to lead Royal to an 11-4 win over Glendale in the Highlanders' season opener.

  • Cameron Fausset went 2 for 3 at the plate and struck out four in four innings on the mound, Justin Frohn struck out two in two scoreless innings, Drew Paez had a double, Owen Meli was 1 for 2 with a walk, and Tyler Field had an RBI for Newbury Park in its 5-1 loss to West Ranch in the Easton Tournament.

  • Lee Atkinson allowed two runs in four innings, Mason Shulman and Matthew Witkow each went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Nate Castellon was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Brandon Hoffman was 1 for 3 with an RBI to lead Calabasas to a 4-2 win over Quartz Hill in the Easton Tournament.

  • Tyler Antwine hit a solo home run and Ruben Venegas and Alex Tobias had hits for Santa Paula in its 6-4 loss to St. Francis in the Easton Tournament.

  • Bronson Thorpe, Wylan Nelson and Luis Jungo had hits and Elijah Burt allowed one run and one hit while striking out four in four relief innings for Ventura in its 5-0 loss to Paraclete in the Easton Tournament.

  • Quentin Young had a triple and an RBI, Chris Tampoya had a sacrifice fly for an RBI, Elijah Clayton was 1 for 3 with two walks and a stolen base, and James Latshaw went 1 for 3 for Oaks Christian in its 5-2 loss to Dos Pueblos in an Easton Tournament game.

  • Andy Carrillo had the only hit for Buena in its 10-0 loss to Granada Hills Charter in an Easton Tournament game.

SOFTBALL

  • Jasmine Reyes pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and had a triple, home run and four RBIs, Hailey Olivera finished 3 for 3 with three home runs and four RBIs, Sarah Coccillos and Jocelyn Gomez each went 3 for 5, Danica Martinez had two RBIs, and Mariah Reyes was 2 for 3 to lead Rio Mesa to a 12-2 win over Agoura in a season opener. Mia Gomez went 3 for 3 with two doubles and Aurelia Ehry had a double and an RBI for the Chargers.

  • Taylor Cook pitched a three-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts and had a double at the plate, and Dylan Yamamura, Alyssa Carpenter and Sydney Swayne each had hits to lead Newbury Park to a 1-0 victory over Dos Pueblos in a season opener.

  • Jo Buckley went 2 for 2 with a home run, Terra Hothan finished 2 for 3 with two doubles, and Madison Finnerty was 1 for 3 with a double and struck out six while allowing one run in five innings in the circle for Moorpark in its 4-2 loss to St. Joseph.

BOYS TENNIS

  • James Sokoloski went 3-0 in singles and Greg Davis and Kieran Masereng went 3-0 in doubles to lead Foothill Tech to a 15-3, season-opening win over Buena.

  • Oak Park rolled to a 17-1 win over Viewpoint in its season opener.
