TSSAA football playoffs scores: East Tennessee high school football first round updates

The TSSAA football playoffs begin on Friday with first round games in East Tennessee and across the state.

The Knox News game of the week is Gibbs hosting Northview Academy in Class 4A playoff action. Gibbs' Boone Brockwell could carry the Eagles through the 4A bracket if he's on. The winner faces the Greeneville-Fulton winner next week.

Another game to watch is Maryville-Science Hill. This is the first time the Rebels have played a first round game on the road in recent memory. The two teams played earlier this season, a 37-18 Maryville win in Maryville. But the visitors have been up-and-down all season. Can the Rebels string together some wins in November?
