Trevor Lawrence: ‘I totally understand’ Terrible Towel drama from fans
Trevor Lawrence didn’t mean any disrespect when he described the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Terrible Towel as a “little yellow towel” earlier this week. But the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback also isn’t bothered that his words were misconstrued in the lead up to Week 8.
“I don’t really care about… Fans do that,” Lawrence said. “It’s part of what makes this game great. You use fuel. You want to hate your opponent when they come in, make it as hard as possible on them. I totally understand that. I hope our fans do that in Jacksonville, too.”
Lawrence, 24, had never played in Pittsburgh before Sunday. Even during his three-year career at Clemson, the quarterback twice played the Pittsburgh Panthers, but never at Acrisure Stadium.
At points Sunday, it appeared the quarterback was having difficulty hearing the playcalls in his headset.
“I thought we played pretty clean in the noise minus a couple things,” Lawrence said. “I thought we communicated really well. Great environment. The fans were loud. They did a great job, too.”
Lawrence’s compliments probably won’t do much to win over those who were mad, as it doesn’t seem like they cared to listen to him much in the first place. Regardless, the Jaguars quarterback isn’t too worried about it.
