Track and field athletes lead field of Athlete of Week candidates

Nearly half of the candidates for Monroe County Region Athlete of the Week for May 6-12 come from track and field.

That makes sense in a week highlighted by the 59th running of the prestigious Mason Invitational.

But it’s not all track and field. Baseball, softball, golf, soccer and lacrosse standouts also are represented.

You can vote once per hour until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday.
