Bartlesville High School’s boys soccer journey reached the final stop Tuesday night.

But, the Bruin season didn’t fade easily away.

Bartlesville brought a gritty, hard-nosed effort to its first-round playoff game at Edmond North.

They fought to a 1-1 tie in the second half, needing just one golden strike to take firm control.

But, Edmond North managed to squeeze out the win, 2-1, as Bartlesville ended its year with a 6-5 record.

The Bruins were their best at the end. A 1-0 loss two weeks ago at Owasso was all that stood between them and a home playoff game in the opening round. But, they had to travel instead to Edmond North, which hung on by the slimmest of margins.

Bartlesville finished 4-2 in its last six matches after having begun at 2-3.

This was the second-straight year Bruin head coach Brandon Willis guided Bartlesville into the postseason.

The Bruins had only about a half-dozen seniors listed on their roster, which means they’re set to return more than 15 experienced seniors-to-be and juniors-to-be, plus several freshmen-to-be-sophomores.
