Swedish wonderkid Lucas Bergvall has spoken of his excitement at his imminent move to Tottenham.

Spurs won the race to sign Bergvall in February, pipping Barcelona to the midfielder's signature.

The 18-year-old will play his final game for Djurgården on June 2 before linking up with Tottenham in the summer.

"At times it can be difficult to accept that fact," Svenskafans’ Forum 1891. "I don’t know if I’ve realised it yet. I’ve just tried to focus on Djurgården.

"But now it’s so close, it’s hard not to think about it. I’m incredibly excited and a little nervous, as it should be."

He added: "It feels sad to leave them here at home. But at the same time, my dream since I was a kid has been to play in the Premier League, it goes both ways."

Bergvall has attracted plenty of attention since making his first-team breakthrough one year and on day ago, where he assisted the winner against champions BK Hacken.

Spurs have agreed to part with £8.5million to snap up one of Europe's hottest properties, with Bergvall officially joining the club on July 1, and the player has spoken about his growing fame.

"Of course, sometimes it can be a bit much. Wherever you are, you hear things – at school, at home, among players or in town,” he added.

"Almost all the time you hear something and many people ask and wonder. You have to disconnect from that to be able to focus on yourself. So, it’s a lot, but at the same time it’s something I have to get used to now that I’m going to be a footballer.

"I feel like I have good people around me and I’ve realised for myself that thinking I’m better than everyone else isn’t going to make me a better footballer."
